New digi-scrapbooking class

January 23, 2008 by Suzanne

I’m taking another digital scrapbooking class.  This one is a little different — it’s focused on learning to use Photoshop.  The instructor is Jessica Sprague (and the class is called Now We’re Rockin’ with Photoshop).

I’ve already learned a ton of tricks and felt like I’d gotten my money’s worth after the first task….which was to take a photo, make it sepia toned and then selectively recolor a portion of the photo.  I knew right away which photo I wanted to use.  Here’s my first go-round with the layout, using the papers and other elements from the class kit:

Colin Take 1

After seeing some of the other layouts, and thinking a little bit about what I would change if I had a do over:  I did a do-over:

Colin Take 2

If you click on the image, you’ll be taken to Flickr where you can view the page larger if you want.  Also, for those that might be interested, credit information is included in the descriptions at Flickr.

The layout is pretty much exactly what the instructor told us to do, so I can’t really take any credit for this, other than as photographer, and playing a bit with putting my own style and color in place.

I love, love, love that picture of Colin (I’ve shown it before…), and I love, love, love knowing how to do the selective recoloring.  Love it.

Hannah’s quilt is on the frame, ready to be quilted, bound and hopefully mailed tomorrow.  I also have a hat to mail to her, that her Gramma Reed knitted.  I took some pictures of that, adn will post hat and quilt pictures tomorrow.

Past my bed time…

Suzanne

That is a really cool effect!!!! How long does it take approx. to do a process like that to a photo?? I ask because I have photoshop but I find myself getting frustrated and I don’t know if it’s unrealistic expectations on my part or if I just don’t know what I’m doing and a class would really help ;-) Glad Hannah is here and doing well!!!!!

Jan, once I knew what to do: that picture took…less than 5 minutes? But before that, I really had no clue, and really didn’t even know what to search for when I was looking online for help. Jessica’s classes are focused on using PS for scrapbooking, but I think the class it is worth every penny. She has also a beginner’s class coming up in February.
